Offset is designed for privacy-sensitive industries. Our products operate on-device or within your private infrastructure, and we do not collect or transmit your data to Offset unless you explicitly choose to send it to us (e.g., for support).
This policy describes what data we do collect, the limited contexts in which we receive customer information, and how we keep it secure.
What We Don’t Collect
When using Offset’s on-prem, desktop, or local deployment, the following data never leaves your environment:
Spreadsheet contents
PDFs, documents, or data files
Formulas, financial models, or internal logic
Customer identifiers or sensitive business information
Usage logs generated inside your local deployment
Audio, transcript, or note-taking content (for on-device note taker product)
Offset has no access to the data you process using our on-device or private deployments.
Information We May Collect
We only collect the minimum data needed to operate our business or assist you. This can include:
Website & Marketing
When you visit our website, we may collect:
Basic analytics (page views, browser type, device)
Contact information you voluntarily provide (name, email)
Form submissions (demo requests, waitlists, feedback)
We do not track your documents or product usage from the website.
Customer Support
If you reach out for support and manually send us files, we may temporarily access:
Error logs
Example spreadsheets or PDFs
System information relevant to debugging
We delete support files once the issue is resolved unless you request otherwise.
Cloud API Users Only
If you choose to use Offset’s cloud API (optional and separate from on-prem), we may process:
Input text or files sent to the API
Outputs generated for your requests
Basic usage metrics
These are processed solely to run the requested operations.
We do not use API data to train models unless explicitly agreed to in writing.
Data Storage & Security
For customers using on-prem or desktop deployments:
Data is stored and processed entirely on your machines or private cloud.
Offset does not have access to your environment.
No background telemetry, no data aggregation, no remote logging.
For optional cloud services:
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Access to production systems is restricted and audited.
We apply industry-standard security controls.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies for site functionality and analytics. You may block cookies through your browser without affecting your use of Offset’s on-premise or desktop products.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.
We may share limited data only in these cases:
With your explicit consent
With service providers performing work on our behalf (e.g., email systems)
To comply with legal obligations
In the event of a merger or acquisition (with appropriate protections)
Children’s Privacy
Offset is not intended for individuals under 18.
Data Retention
Support files are deleted after the issue is resolved.
Marketing/contact data is retained only as long as needed to manage communications.
On-prem product data is never collected or stored by Offset.
International Transfers
If you interact with our website or cloud APIs from outside the United States, your personal information may be transferred to the United States. We follow applicable laws related to such transfers.
